Check Out the Activity My Preschooler Refused, But I Think Yours Will Like!
To be real, my preschooler did not love this activity. Basically, he said, "I don't want to" enough times for me to realize that I should scratch it. However, I think it is a good alphabet activity for preschoolers and worth sharing. If it suits your preschooler's personality, I could see it being self entertaining for a good amount of time.
Let's see what your preschooler thinks...
My goal with this alphabet activity is for my preschooler to begin discovering how to "write" the letters of his name. I suggest doing this once your preschooler can recall and identify all the letters of his name.
By Kindergarten, children will be asked to print many upper- and lowercase letters. This activity is a fantastic (or so I thought) way for your preschooler to begin exploring the formations of the letters.
- Begin by preparing spaghetti or something along those lines. I made rice noodles.
- Place the letters of your preschooler's name in front of your preschooler. These letters are written on construction paper and laminated.
- Allow your preschooler to chose a letter from their name.
As you can see, we worked a little, ate a little, and then decided it was over.
Remember not to push an activity if your preschooler is not into it. They will be another time, perhaps in another way.
For example, the following morning, Grey asked me if we can do this activity. The one he refused to do the day before. Ah, preschoolers. They are hard to keep up with! Give it a try and let us know how it goes!
