Name Recognition and Written Language
At any age, it is important to show your child written language. By Kindergarten, children need to recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequence of letters.
Showing them their first and last name written with spaces in between is a perfect way to start.
Point to their first name on paper, then point to them.
Point to their last name, then point to them.
Show them the spaces in between each word.
Most importantly, hang anything you create with your child at eye level. This will remind them of your discussion for reinforcements and revisits.
