By Kindergarten, children will be asked with prompting and support, retell familiar stories, including key details.
They will also be asked with prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in a story.
Having your preschool reenact a familiar story is a great way to practice these standards. This activity also builds comprehension and language skills.
Grey has developed an interest with the book, "Caps For Sale" by Esphyr Slobodkina. This book was originally published in 1940! It is a fantastic, classic children's picture book and perfect for story retelling.
The story is about a Peddler trying to sell his caps. He runs into a little trouble when the monkeys arrive. To retell the story, I gathered a couple objects from around our home.

Do you have this book at home? If so, I would love to hear how you reenacted this story!
