By Kindergarten, children will be asked to recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters.
After creating a picture with your preschooler, have him place name cards to match the artist. This will help with name recognition.

Grey drew on the bottom of the page, so he placed his name below.
Have your preschooler practice with familiar words and names to demonstrate that written language has a significant purpose.
Remember to keep all interactions you have with your child at eye level. This will encourage them to revisit the completed activity.
