Spaces and Geography
By Kindergarten children will participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about kindergarten topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
This activity is a fun way to begin exploring how maps represent actual places. Concepts will be abstract to preschoolers, but the introduction and conversation will help pique your preschooler's interest.
Looking at magnets from places you visit can be valuable for your preschooler. Together, you can begin arranging the magnets on the map. Again, this concept will be abstract, yet the map (posted at eye level) gave my preschooler the opportunity to touch and interact with the map.
This is also a great idea for parents who travel and want to share with any age child where they have been.
Again, having the map at eye level engages your preschool to discover more on their own.
How do you utilize maps in your home?
