Now, how about, Dragons Love Tacos?

I mean…how many times can you read a book before it becomes an obsessive habit?

My boys love this book. No wait a second. They don't just love this book. They ADORE this book. My preschoolers think it's hysterical and probably now eat more tacos because of it. #momwin

Below, you have FIVE different ways you can incorporate a story retell for perhaps the most poplar book in your preschooler's room. One stop shop for Dragons Love Tacos. 🌮

What is a Book Box?

A book box is a way to help your preschooler retell a familiar story.

It has supplies that can act as props for story retells.

What is IN a Book Box?

  • Familiar book

  • Props to retell the story

WHY Use a Book Box?

By Kindergarten, children will be asked to:

  • With prompting and support, retell familiar stories, including key details.

  • With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.

  • With prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in a story.

Master now?

No, thank you.

Expose now?

Yes, please!

Build up your preschoolers confidence for when they have to meet these rigorous standards and retell stories through play.

  • Make the Jell-o according to directions. I used three boxes.

  • Stir in the veggies and shredded green paper (spicy salsa)

  • Put into the refrigerator until play time!

TIP: the supply list contains a storage bin for you refrigerator. This way, it will easily fit and you now have a great container for future use!

ALLERGY INFORMATION: My preschooler has a peanut allergy, and I could not confirm that Kraft Jell-o is made in a peanut free facility. He did not eat the Jell-o.
